Topics on the Final

No graphing calculators allowed:
  • Graphing: linear (y = mx + b), absolute value, quadratics (both standard (y = ax^2 + bx + c) and vertex (y = a(x - h)^2 + k)), conic sections, families of functions, & trig. functions. Any of the above functions may also be given as an inequality.
  • Matrices: add, subtract, multiply by a scalar, multiply by another matrix, find determinants and inverses, & know the identity matrix.
  • Solve a system of equations
  • Solve quadratics
  • Evaluate exponents and logarithms
  • Solve logarithmic equations
  • Convert between degrees and radians
  • Know definitions of trig. functions
  • Simplifying trig. expressions
  • Solving trig. equations
  • Know trig. identities
  • Know focal properties of conic sections
Graphing calculators allowed:
  • Functions: add, subtract, multiply, divide, compose, find inverses, identify as a function, & identify as being 1-to-1 or onto.
  • Complex numbers: add, subtract, multiply, divide, raise to a power, find all roots.
  • Simplify exponents
  • Solve exponential equations
  • Write and exponential function modeling a situation
  • Solve right triangles
  • Solve non-right triangles using the law of sines and law of cosines
  • Find the area of triangles using Hero's formula
